The long bent line through the sky is the international space station crossing over Scheveningen at a speed of 27,743 km/h and 340.5 km above our heads. It Weighs 309 tonnes (471,736 kg when completed) now and will be spanning the area of a footballfield when completed in 2010.

At this moment you can see expedition 17 crossing the sky.

The International space station has been in orbit for 3461 days of which 2748 days are manned by astronauts and cosmonauts. The Expedition 17 crew is now onboard and their counter is on 34 days in space. The Expedition 17 crew consists of Commander Sergei Volkov, Flight Engineer Oleg Kononenko, Flight Engineer Garrett Reisman, Flight Engineer Gregory E. Chamitoff and Spaceflight Participant So-yeon Yi.

The international space station is the first true international collaboration to extend our science into the microgravity envioroment.
This is a good thing for us all, even at the cost of $157 billion (the most expensive object ever built by humans).

More about the space station on NASA's website.

I think this picture was worth getting out of bed for at 3am.
